Just want you to know I really like your blog, in a perverse(?) way. Can't really link to it though, my little old lady friends might have a cow. Thanks for the random entertainment. Keep it up.

Perverse/perverted?

Have a cow?

Random?

Wow, thanks! And to think I was just about to pack it in and give up. Maybe now I'll make more of an effort to soldier on with this blog.

The problem is, I'm easily discouraged, in general, and I've pretty much run out of whimsy.

But thanks, maybe your comment is exactly the recharge I needed!

And as far as the link goes?

No problem.

I fully appreciate that I've got a low-grade "untouchable" thing going.

And yet people trust me with their kids -- go figure!

If you want a little encouragement, you might want to add an email option to your profile, even if you want to set up a new email address just for blogging. I've found that mid-century people read for entertainment but don't want to publicly comment.

I've had people email me with encouraging and appreciative comments about my blog that would not, for a variety of reasons, want to leave a comment.

I tell them to leave a comment sometime, but the response is "I'm not funny enough" or "I don't write very well" or "I don't know how."

Go figure

p.s. A lot of your stuff is over my head, as a non artsy-fartsy person, but the battle scene from one of your earlier posts still makes me chuckle. For once, there was some bathroom humor I thought was funny my twenty year old son didn't (probably just because he didn't think of it.).

If you don't believe you have the energy to throw a temper tantrum, have a hissy fit or erupt into a conniption fit, you could still have a cow instead. The expression "have a cow" is said to have originated in the 1950s, although an earlier British expression, "having kittens," did cover the same territory. The idea is that certain bits of unexpected or bad news might create the same agony and pain as literally giving birth to a cow. There is every chance that the recipient of bad news might "have a cow," in the sense of going ballistic or blowing his or her top.

(1) Thanks for the email suggestion. I’ll reconsider but I'd already pretty much decided against it, mostly because I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. It’s complicated.

(2) Maybe your 20 year old simply needs to experience it for himself. And hilarity will ensue.

(3) Don't have a cow . . . EAT MOR CHIKIN.

So if you won't do email, do google analytics, THEN, if you see no one reads your blog, you can pack it in. Unless, of course, writing for yourself and your dear ones is not reward enough. Insert chagrin here.

Next time you're looking in the mirror -- and you get this funny feeling -- spin around real fast and look behind you.

Who knows?

If the moon is right, maybe you'll catch a glimpse of me . . . off to the side over there in the corner . . . chagrinning.
