Bissage Cringes, Part II

Way back in the 1970s, my father put a little black and white poster of Frank Sinatra on the wall of our rec room.

It was a photo of Mr. Sinatra, on stage, in front of the musicians, holding a glass of booze in one hand and a microphone in the other. He looked like a bloated corpse in a business suit.

I’m not sure if he was holding a cigarette in the same hand as the booze, but he probably was. Such accomplished manual dexterity was considered an awesome mark of sophistication, back in the day.

IIRC, that poster had on it the words “Ole Blue Eyes is Back.”

I’m pretty sure you got that poster for free when you purchased the latest Sinatra album.

My father stuck it to the wall with thumbtacks.

The best I could come up with is the 1973 LP "Ol' Blue Eyes Is Back", which did come with an 8x10 photo of Frank.

Bloated? Check.
Corpse-like? Check.
Musicians, booze, microphone? Nope.

Then there was this one. Closer perhaps.

Bloated or not, Frank called the shots for all those guys.

Triangle Man, you are GREAT!!!

But nope, neither of those is the one I remember. It was maybe 18 X 24 inches and it had crease marks where it had been folded to fit into the record jacket.

I can’t swear that Mr. Sinatra was holding a microphone. In fact, I’m now pretty sure he wasn’t. And I’m not at all sure it said “Ol Blue Eyes is Back.” It was a long time ago and I was thoroughly traumatized every time I had to walk past it to go to my bedroom. UGGGGHHHH!!!

But I will SWEAR!!!! it had Sinatra standing, head to toe holding a glass of booze. One of his knees was bent as if he were taking a step forward . . . or trying to keep his balance.

Or maybe I’ve lost my mind. This is a definite possibility.

Speaking of which, I have to admit I don’t get your last link. That said, I’m sorry to hear about Mr. Kirby. He was one of those actors who always seemed to leave an impression bigger than his roles. His voice was very distinctive.

A guy can't throw out a gratuitous Spinal Tap reference now and then?
